José A. Fajardo serves as President & Chief Executive Officer for WMFE-TV/DT and 90.7 WMFE-FM, Orlando, Florida. He is responsible for overseeing the administration and technology division, local and national programming, new media initiatives, membership, operations, production, outreach and program promotion for both stations, as well as the WMFE Audio Reading Service. José started his tenure at WMFE as Director of Radio Programming in March 1996. He was promoted to Vice President for Programming for both Channel 24 and 90.7 FM in October 1997, and to Senior Vice President for Broadcasting & New Media in June 1999. In January 2000, José was promoted to Senior Vice President for Operations, and in June 2001 he was promoted to Executive Vice President & COO.

During his time with WMFE, José has overseen the implementation of the activation of WMFE Digital Channel 24 which includes five multicast channels, the radio automation system, the addition of All Kids/All Day on Channel 24, the addition of the successful Speaking of Wome''s Health and Hablando de la Salud de la Mujer events, the addition of new local programs on WMFETV and 90.7 WMFE-FM an improved WMFE Web site, and increases in both Channel 24 and 90.7 FM audiences.

Prior to joining WMFE in 1996, José served as General Manager of public television and radio stations KNCT-TV/FM in Killeen, Texas. During his 22 years of broadcast experience, he has held positions as Station Manager, Program Director, Radio Operations/Production Manager, Television Producer/Director, Sales Executive and News Reporter. José also taught broadcasting classes at Central Texas College.

José serves as a Director on the National Public Radio Board of Directors (his second term of service on the NPR Board). He currently serves as Chairman of the Florida Public Broadcasting Board, serving also on their Executive Committee and Legislature Committee. José serves as the second Vice President of the Tiger Bay Club of Central Florida and was recently asked to serve as Vice Chair of the Orange County May'r's Fund Foundation. José sits on the boards of the Valencia Community College Foundation and the Angels Trace Foundation. He is a member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando, the Rotary Club of Orlando and the Orlando Chamber of Commerce. José recently served as a member of the Orange County Task Force for Ethics and Campaign Finance Reform.

In 2003, José was presented with the inaugural Presiden''s Award from La Casa de Puerto Rico for his leadership achievements in media and a regional Silver Telly for excellence for his executive producer role in WMFE In-Depth: The State of the Children. In 2005, José was named by Telemundo and El Sentinel as one of Central Flori'a's Hispani" "Triunfador"s" (Triumphant). In 2005, José was presented with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce & Hispanic Business Initiative Fund Don Quijote Professional of the Year Award.

José, a native of Puerto Rico, holds a Masters of Science Degree in Human Resource Management and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Technology from the University of Central Texas, and an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Telecommunications from Central Texas College. He lives in Orlando, Florida with his wife Michelle and three children.
