NPR's Scott Simon talks to 24-year-old Van Tran, a Vietnamese native who spent much of his childhood in a refugee camp in Thailand before arriving in the United States five years ago. Next week he graduates from Hunter College in New York City with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, before heading off to Harvard to pursue a doctorate. He earned his undergraduate degree while working full time at Wankel's Hardware Store in Manhattan.
