Jean Cochran brings more than two decades of radio experience to her work as a newscaster for NPR, including eight years as associate producer for NPR's award-winning, daily newsmagazine Morning Edition. As a newscaster, Cochran regularly provides news updates for the newsmagazine.

Cochran joined NPR as an associate producer with Morning Edition in 1981 after a brief stint at WAMU-FM / Washington, DC. During her 10 years with Morning Edition she worked on all production aspects of the program, helping to define the sound and format as the show developed.

Prior to this, Cochran worked as a reporter and newscaster for WVMT/Burlington, Vermont; WLNH/Laconia, New Hampshire; and WCFR/Springfield, Vermont.

Cochran earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from The American University in Washington, D.C.
