After putting on last year's can't-miss show, NPR Music presents another genre-blending and mind-blowing bill during the CMJ Music Marathon, on Wednesday, October 16 at 9pm (ET) from Le Poisson Rouge in New York City. The event will be available to everyone in a live video stream at NPR.org/music, in the NPR Music mobile apps, and archived after the show at NPR Music.
Fans planning to be in New York City for the conference have the opportunity to attend the concert. Free tickets will be offered on Thursday, October 10 on a first come, first serve basis. Check the All Songs Considered blog, @NPRMusic and @NPRHipHop for more information.
Committed to giving audiences the best in live performance, the NPR Music showcase features appearances by four compelling acts:
Pusha T: The rapper, previously best known for his work with his brother in the acclaimed duo Clipse, hits the stage to perform songs from his just-released solo debut, My Name Is My Name. Visit NPR Music's Microphone Check to see the video for "Nosetalgia", featuring Kendrick Lamar.
Omar Souleyman: Perhaps the most famous wedding singer ever, the Syrian singer (and Bjork favorite) became a worldwide sensation after exporting his brand of the danceable, high energy Middle Eastern wedding/celebration music called dabke. Souleyman plays this rare U.S. date a week before his new Four Tet-produced album Wenu Wenu hits stores. NPR Music has the First Listen on October 14.
Cults: A day after the release of its sophomore LP Static, the alt-pop duo celebrates on its home turf with NPR Music. Fans can get ready to sing along and coordinate dance moves by streaming the First Listen now.
Ali Shaheed Muhammad: The A Tribe Called Quest member, DJ, producer and co-host of NPR Music's Microphone Check will spin between bands to keep the party going.
NPR Music collaborates with NPR's newsmagazines, public radio Member stations and the passionate NPR community to celebrate great music in every genre. Visit at www.npr.org/music and via NPR Music mobile apps.
