Addressing more than 2,000 Marines at Camp Pendleton, north of San Diego, Vice President Dick Cheney praised their efforts in Iraq. Cheney defended the decision to go to war there, saying it had helped transform Iraq from a "gathering threat" to the world to a burgeoning democracy. Hear NPR's Renee Montagne.
