San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom has gained notoriety as the nation's most ardent crusader for same-sex marriage. He's being lauded at the Democratic National Convention, but he won't be seen this week at the podium addressing delegates. NPR's Tavis Smiley talks with the controversial California leader.
