Requiem for a Poet: Czeslaw Milosz

Nobel Prize-winning poet Czeslaw Milosz has died at the age of 93 in Krakow, Poland. Milosz served in the Polish diplomatic corps, but defected from the communist state in 1951 and settled in the United States during the Cold War years. Hear NPR's Jennifer Ludden and Robert Hass, a former U.S. poet laureate who helped translate Milosz's poetry.
