Independent Record Labels Thrive Despite Piracy

Major record labels have been dealing with the issue of online pirating of music. While they struggle, independent labels have been doing well. Independents have been a part of the music business since the dawn of recorded sound -- Genet , Motown, and Atlantic Records were all influential independents. Marcie Sillman of member station KUOW reports.
