Fairfield a Mecca for Transcendental Meditation

Twice a day, thousands of meditators gather for 20-minute TM sessions at one of two domes -- one for men, one for women -- on the Maharishi University campus in Fairfield.
While other towns in the region struggle, the small community of Fairfield, Iowa, has flourished through serenity. A school for Transcendental Meditation, established 30 years ago by a former guru for the Beatles, has turned the town into a thriving cultural center. Hear NPR's Greg Allen.
