A bullet struck Cleveland Indians pitcher Kyle Denney in the leg as he waited on the team bus in Kansas City. At the time he was shot, Denney was wearing the uniform of a Southern California cheerleader — part of a rookie hazing ritual. The costume included high white boots, which may have saved him from further injury.
