A close battle is being waged in North Carolina to succeed Sen. John Edwards, the Democratic vice-presidential candidate who gave up his seat to seek the presidency. Democrats have rallied behind Erskine Bowles, President Clinton's former chief of staff. Republicans offer Rep. Richard Burr. NPR's Adam Hochberg reports.
