Powell Resigns as Secretary of State

The White House announces the resignation of Secretary of State Colin Powell, who was viewed as a voice of moderation in an administration dominated by conservative hawks. Powell, the first African-American to serve as Secretary of State, is the topmost official to quit since President Bush's re-election. NPR's Michele Kelemen reports.
