The Impact of Arts on Educational Curriculum

Listen: Hear Segment 5 in the Series

In the final installment in our series on the state of music education in American schools, NPR's Korva Coleman talks with Richard Deasy, Director of the Arts Education Partnership. He summarizes what the research shows about the impact the arts have on reading and math as well as on fundamental learning skills.

Deasy's work with educators in all 50 states has given him a unique perspective on what is happening nationally in arts education. In his observations on how schools fund arts education, he has found stresses and cutbacks in music.
