With the country almost equally split politically, a group of U.S. senators is trying to hold onto a small piece in the middle. Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine and Democratic Sen. Kent Conrad of North Dakota tell NPR's Steve Inskeep what it's like to be a moderate in a deeply divided Congress.
