White House Says Torture Legislation Unnecessary

The White House dismisses reports that the administration urged Congress to drop a proposal prohibiting intelligence agents from torturing prisoners. A White House spokesman claimed such legislation was unnecessary because torture is already banned. NPR's Renee Montagne reports.
