NPR's Alex Chadwick talks with NPR's Michele Keleman about Tuesday morning's Senate confirmation hearing for National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, who has been nominated by President Bush to succeed Secretary of State Colin Powell. The hearing heated up when Sen. John Kerry, who lost to Bush in the November 2004 presidential election, questioned Rice regarding security lapses in Iraq and the failed search for weapons of mass destruction.
