Shiites Seek to Solidify Power in Iraq

Shiite Islamist parties hope to use the results of the Jan. 30 Iraqi elections to assume leadership in the new government. Minority Sunni Muslims held power in Saddam's Iraq. Results of the vote suggest Shiites will dominate parliament, with Kurds holding the second-highest number of seats.
