A public television program is giving its local stations the chance to be as prudish as they need to be. Frontline did a documentary about American troops in Iraq. In the program, the soldiers curse like soldiers, which led to fears of FCC fines for indecency. So Frontline made two versions, with and without profanity. Local stations can decide to play the "raw" version — or the censored one, still violent, but with clean language.
