Parents, doctors, ethicists and politicians in Holland and in Belgium are discussing making euthanasia legal for children suffering from terminal illnesses. Although the issue has been polarizing, legislation has already been introduced in the Belgian Parliament that would enable individuals under 18 years to ask for euthanasia.
