Death of Chechen Leader Hurts Chances for Peace

Russian forces kill Chechen rebel leader Aslan Maskhadov. As a moderate, he was one of the few Chechen leaders with whom the Russians could negotiate. Now, chances for peace are likely to dim, as supporters vow their fight for Chechnya's independence will go on.
