Jonathan Safran Foer's Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is a novel told through a 9-year old narrator who lost his father in the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center towers. Reviewer Alan Cheuse teaches writing at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.
