MCI Accepts $7.6 Billion Takeover Bid from Verizon

MCI approves a sweetened takeover offer from telecommunications giant Verizon. The $7.6 billion offer still lags nearly a billion dollars behind a rival bid from Qwest Communications, but MCI's board cited Verizon's strong competitive position and its ability to close the deal.
