Former Sen. John Danforth says the Republican Party has become the political arm of Christian Conservatives. Danforth, a Republican, says politicians are promoting a sectarian agenda on gay marriage, stem cell research and the Terri Schiavo case. Danforth, an Episcopal priest, decries this trend in a recent op-ed piece in The New York Times and in an interview with host Debbie Elliott.
