Vatican Highlights Pope's Lucidity at Death

NPR's senior news analyst observes that the Vatican took pains to emphasize that the ailing Pope John Paul II was conscious and fully responsive up to the last moment of his life. The Vatican needed to stress that there had been no vacuum of authority in the church.
