NPR's Madeleine Brand speaks with Gerard O'Connell of the Asian Catholic News Service about the state of the Roman Catholic Church in the People's Republic of China. That nation has between 10 and 15 million practicing Catholics, even though the Chinese government ended diplomatic relations with the Vatican more than 50 years ago.
