Pope John Paul II Helped Church to Embrace Science

The Catholic Church has engaged in some very public disputes with scientists, calling Galileo a heretic in the 17th century for suggesting the earth was not at the center of the universe. But Pope John Paul II took steps to improve the church's relationship with science.
