China Sends Statement to Japan by Allowing Protests

Widespread demonstrations have taken place in China against Japanese textbooks that downplay Japan's treatment of China during World War II. Commentator John Pomfret says the fact that the Chinese government has allowed these demonstrations at all is a tacit endorsement of their message.
