Amtrak's Fate Uncertain in Face of Budget, Brake Woes

Cracks in brake discs on its Acela trains has caused Amtrak to sideline all 20 of the high-speed trains for what could be a period of months. Amtrak's fate is in the balance as the Bush administration on Thursday submitted a plan that calls for drastic changes and far less money for the national railroad.
