China Philharmonic in Washington

Audio for this story from Performance Today is not available.

Not long ago, the China Philharmonic did something it doesn't do very often. It went on an American tour. One of their stops was the nearly brand new Strathmore Hall, just outside Washington, D.C. The young Chinese pianist Yuja Wang was on hand to play Sergei Rachmaninoff's idea of a theme and variations. Wang joins the China Philharmonic and conductor Long Yu in Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.
