Frank Stasio can be heard on NPR as a freelance reporter and substitute host for NPR programs including Talk of the Nation. Before shifting into a freelance role, Stasio served as an NPR newscaster from 1986-1990, writing and delivering six newscasts every day during NPR’s award-winning All Things Considered. Prior to that, as an NPR producer of special news events coverage, Stasio coordinated NPR's live coverage of the Democratic and Republican National Conventions in 1984 and served as line producer and director for five live programs from each convention site. Stasio also produced NPR's live coverage of the Democratic primary debates in New York, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Dallas. He joined NPR as an associate producer.

Stasio came to NPR from Iowa, where he worked as a newscaster then news director for NPR station WOI AM/FM in Ames, Iowa. Prior to that, he was an anchor/reporter for WHO AM in Des Moines. He held newscaster and news director positions at WGRQ FM in Buffalo, NY, as well as a newscast role with WYSL AM/FM, also in Buffalo.

Stasio’s work in public radio has frequently taken him abroad to bring radio production skills and workshops to fledgling radio stations developing news programming. In Albania, Stasio conducted on-the-job training for radio journalists producing a daily, half-hour magazine program for Kosovar refugees in Albania. Stasio led a series of training workshops in radio journalism for professional radio reporters and University students in Tirana, and he also worked as a distance-learning consultant for a radio journalism practicum at the University of Tirana in Albania.

In addition to journalism training for professionals, Stasio is also engaged in teaching integrated academic skills through radio theater. He has designed audio drama workshops for young people, allowing them to write and produce their own radio plays. Under his tutelage, students have produced award-winning productions that have aired on local radio stations in Washington, DC, as well as been presented at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in DC.

Stasio earned his BA in mass communications from State University College at Buffalo.
