Van Cliburn Piano Competition

Audio for this story from Performance Today is not available.

We check in on the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition to hear from two young pianists who advanced from the preliminary to the semi-final round. First, Roberto Plano plays the Sonata, K. 239 by Scarlatti. And then we hear Davide Cabassi (DA-vee-deh ka-BAS-see) in Claude Debussy's Jardin sous la pluie, or "The Garden in the Rain," from a collection of pieces called Estampes.
