Iconic American Food

We all have an ideal American food, whether it be hamburgers on seeded buns, barbecue sandwiches smothered in slaw, apple pie or toasted cheese sandwiches. We present a conversational Fourth of July feast of iconic American food.

Guests:

John T. Edge, director of Southern Food Ways Alliance at the University of Mississippi and author Hamburgers and Fries: An American Story

Jeff Weinstein, owner of The Counter in Santa Monica, Calif. (a modern interpretation of the burger joint)

Joan Nathan, author of An American Folklife Cookbook and the forthcoming New American Cooking, due this fall
