Mephistopheles is a name synonymous with evil and darkness. So tacking the designation "polka" onto a piece named "Mephisto" seems a little incongruous. Pianist Aldo Ciccolini plays some of Franz Liszt's fiercely energetic Mephisto music in concert. He plays the Mephisto Polka at the Montpellier Festival in the south of France.
