John Roberts Confirmed as U.S. Chief Justice

The Senate votes 78-22 to confirm John Roberts' nomination as chief justice of the United States. Roberts was widely expected to be confirmed; about half the Senate Democrats voted in favor of him. At 50, he will be the youngest chief justice in U.S. history.
