London is retiring its famous red, "Routemaster" buses. Friday is that final day for the open-backed, double-deckers. A recent poll showed that 81 percent of Londoners opposed scrapping the buses. But city transport bosses say the venerable vehicle cannot accommodate some disabled people.
Replacement buses are still red and double-decked, but they can accommodate wheelchairs and have doors to prevent people from hopping on and off.
