Melusine loves her Knight, Raymond, but each week she has to change back into a mermaid in order to keep him. In 1833 Felix Mendelssohn was inspired by the fairy tale to compose a concert overture called "The Fair Melusine." We'll hear a performance by the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Christopher Hogwood.
