Mozart

Audio for this story from Performance Today is not available.

The first woman in Mozart's life was his mother, Maria Anne. She accompanied him to Paris, but not home again. She got sick there, and he sat with her as she died. Two weeks before that sad occasion, he had a triumph with his Paris Symphony. It's the Symphony No. 31, and our performance of it comes from Cologne, where the West German Radio Symphony is conducted by Paul McCreesh.
