The Nothing is otherwise known as Matt Fisher, an electronic musician from Davis, Ca. who blends elements of jazz and classical with drum loops and world beats to make groove-based works of art. Fisher says he was raised on jazz and blues. But at 13, he discovered hip-hop and "never looked back."

Fisher's CD, The Complex Sanity of Man was released on his won Precipitate Records label. He says he named the label after watching a news report on precipitation elvels. He's since signed other artists, most of them friends.

Talking about what inspires his music, Fisher says "everything I've ever heard has either shown me the right way to do it or the wrong way to do it."

The featured track from Complex Sanity of Man is "Animal Kingdom Dub."
