Handel

Audio for this story from Performance Today is not available.

Chinese pianist and Van Cliburn winner Sa Chen plays a rollicking work by Handel: The Chaconne in G Major. Handel used and re-used these variations when he was trying to make a name for himself in London. Sa Chen goes on to play an arrangement of a Chinese folksong about moonlight on a quiet lake. This performance comes to us from the Strings in the Mountains Festival in Steamboat Strings, Colo.
