'Crossing to Safety' by Wallace Stegner

"As an English major, no one ever made me read any Wallace Stegner, which is a shame. I'm reading Crossing to Safety, which is a marvelous examination of the lives of two fairly ordinary couples. Before I've even finished with it, I have started reading Angle of Repose, another fascinating portrait of an ordinary man who is researching the life of his grandmother. Stegner's living, breathing characters stay in my mind all day until I can get back to each of these books. I don't want to finish the books because I'm enjoying them so much."

From Sylvia, who listens to member station KUSU in Utah.
