"Secrets Aren't So Bad" chronicles the wary opening stabs and parries of a crush as it develops into youthful romance, as Valentine ponders whether to leave questions unasked and thoughts unspoken. Though she opts to leave some of her inner rooms dark for the moment. "Secrets Aren't So Bad" revels in the uncertainty of a crush while examining the perils of confiding in another person.

Magneta Lane's Dancing With Daggers is all about the inherent juxtaposition between elegance and power, as broken strings and broken nails meet pink lipstick and come-hither stares. Their glitter-and-steel take on power-pop incorporates influences from Hole to Nancy Sinatra, but the result brings to mind an all-girl variation on The Strokes, with ferocious energy to match its slithering hooks.
