Portland, Ore. band Dirty Martini is Lara Michell, Stephanie Schneiderman, and McKinley. Before meeting, each had a successful solo career: one toured with David Crosby as his opening act, one won a spot on the Lillith Fair tour, and one was in Carmina Pirhana, a band that composed music for the Oregon Ballet. The trio decided to do a Valentine's Day show together and hit it off, each offering their own brutal love song.

The act was a major hit and the three women decided to book another show together, haphazardly naming their group "Dirty Martini." When the band met Dave Allen, bassist for Gang of Four, he suggested they "stand up and become a proper band." Michell, Schneiderman and McKinley added Ned Failing on drums and Damien Erskine on bass and made it official.

Dirty Martini's music is beautiful but dark with sweetly distinct voices. Their self-titled debut CD is mostly composed of live, acoustic recordings.

The featured track on Dirty Martini is "Inside the Outside."
