Aircraft Carrier Fails to Find Buyer

There was less interest than expected when an aircraft carrier went up for sale. The warship Minsk was built by the former Soviet Union. It ended up in the hands of Chinese entrepreneurs who turned it into a floating amusement park in the city of Shenzhen. Then they put it up for auction. Three bidders offered money for a chunk of Cold War history, but none offered the required minimum of $16 million, so the auction was called off.
