Moussaoui Eligible for Execution

A jury in Alexandria, Virginia has found that admitted al-Qaida member Zacarias Moussaoui is eligible for the death penalty. The verdict came just minutes ago. The jury will now enter a second phase of the sentencing trial, and weigh aggravating and mitigating circumstances to decide whether Moussaoui should, in fact, be executed. The 12-person jury has to be unaninmous. If the jury does not vote for death, a life sentence is automatic. In its verdict today, the jurors found that Moussaoui's actions--lying to federal agents about what he knew, led to the death of at least one person on September 11, 2001. We'll have more on the verdict later in the program. Again, a federal jury has found that Zacarias Moussaoui is eligible of the death penalty.
