Online shooters are a fantastic waste of time... and while I'm not a huge fan of the genre myself, the growing Machinima phenomenon is something I wholeheartedly approve of. Basically, people make movies inside an online game. There's a talk show where the cast and crew sometimes get assaulted by other players in the world who don't realize the talk show exists. (My Mixed Signals compadre Andrea Seabrook mentioned it here.)There is even an annual festival.

But I have to say, I really love this one: Deviation. It's about the existential issues of a character in one of these hyper-violent games. Very funny.
