Saint-Georges

Audio will be available later today.

The Scottish Chamber Orchestra plays music by a French composer who also led an exciting and eventful life outside of the music world. Joseph Bologne Chevalier de Saint-Georges fought in the French Revolution, traveled to what is now Haiti to fight in a slave uprising and later returned to Paris. From this musical side of his life, we hear his Symphony No. 2. Franz Bruggen leads the orchestra.
