Parkening International Guitar Festival

Audio for this story from Performance Today is not available.

The first Parkening International Guitar Festival was held a week ago at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. The first-place winner was Pablo Sainz-Villegas of Spain. He performed "The Wedding of Luis Alonzo," by Jeronimo Jimenez. The festival is named for classical guitarist Christopher Parkening, who released new albums this year. Here are two pieces from his recordings: a traditional Romance and Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring."
