Strauss

Audio for this story from Performance Today is not available.

Richard Strauss was very precocious, writing dozens of songs before he finished high school. Here's one he wrote when he was just 14. It's called "Alphorn" for soprano, horn and piano. Hyunah Yu is the soprano in this performance. Gail Williams is the horn player, with Deborah Sobol at the piano. They're at the Pick-Staiger Concert Hall in Evanston, Illinois.
