A Guatemalan Returns to Help Find the 'Disappeared'
The U.S. government is planning to spend about $3 million to help several countries in Latin America set up DNA testing facilities. The idea is to help groups such as the Guatemalan Forensic Anthropolgy Foundation, which has been digging up that country's brutal history.
Fredy Peccerelli, who runs the group, fled Guatemala as a child when his father received death threats. He grew up paying more attention to the Yankees than to the trouble at home. But now he's back in the thick of things, receiving death threats himself as he tries to help families find the remains of the "disappeared."
