June 29, 2006

The foreign ministers of the Group of 8 countries press Iran to respond to an offer of incentives for dissolving its nuclear program, setting a deadline of July 5 for a response. The ministers are meeting in Moscow to discuss ways to discourage Iran from enriching uranium.

Iran has yet to reply to the June 6 offer of incentives from six world powers to persuade it to cease its enrichment program. The ministers also discussed the Middle East and energy security, as part of preparations for next month's G8 summit in St. Petersburg, Russia.
